Morpheus8 Post-Treatment Instructions
What TO EXPECT
The first 24 hours
Wash your hands before touching the treated area.
Do not cleanse the skin until the day after your treatment.
Apply the recommended healing ointment/post-treatment cream as needed (2-3 times per day).
Expect redness, warmth, tightness, mild swelling, and a sunburn-like appearance.
You may take Tylenol and/or Ibuprofen for discomfort.
You may use cold compresses on the treatment area as needed.
Do not exercise or participate in strenuous activities that cause sweating.
Make sure you sleep on a fresh/clean pillowcase.
The first 3 days
Gently cleanse the treated area with a soothing, gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat the skin dry; do not rub.It is normal to experience redness, swelling, warmth, and tightness similar to a moderate sunburn. It is also normal to have mild dryness, crusting, or peeling. Your skin may feel sensitive for several days.Avoid all lotions, oils, powders, makeup and any unnecessary products on the treated area unless recommended by your provider.Avoid using any ‘active’ skincare products (Retinol, Vitamin C Serum, exfoliants, scrubs, Tretinoin, etc.).
Avoid sun exposure. You may wear SPF 50+ (non-tinted) if you are going to leave the house.Avoid pools, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, or anything that creates excessive heat or sweating.Continue to cleanse with gentle cleanser twice daily.
Continue to use your healing ointment/post-treatment cream as needed (2-3 times per day).
You may sleep with your head elevated to help with any swelling if the treatment was on the face/neck areas.
Days 3-7
Mild redness or pinkness may persist but should continue improving.Dryness, flaking, and peeling are common as the skin renews itself.Skin may feel rough or have a temporary sandpaper-like texture.Small pinpoint scabs or mild crusting may be present. DO NOT pick or scratch.Mild itching, tightness, and/or sensitivity will occur during healing.Post-treatment purging is normal and can take 1-2 weeks to heal.
Continue using a gentle cleanser and your healing ointment/post-treatment cream as needed (2-3 times per day) to support recovery.Wear SPF 30+ mineral sunscreen daily and avoid excessive sun exposure.Continue to avoid exfoliants, retinoids, and other active skincare products until fully healed.Most patients can resume normal activities, exercise, and makeup use if the skin is no longer irritated at Day 5.
